Meghan Markle’s Lifestyle Show Faces Uncertain Future on Netflix

The Duchess of Sussex’s much-anticipated lifestyle series ‘With Love, Meghan’ is set to debut this week on January 15 – however, experts are raising concerns regarding the timing amidst the ongoing wildfire crises in Los Angeles, California.

Meghan’s latest series is part of the Sussexes’ $100 million (£80 million) agreement with Netflix, arriving against the somber backdrop of the uncontrollable blazes that have resulted in numerous fatalities and significant destruction.

This week, Meghan and Prince Harry were spotted at the World Central Kitchen in Pasadena, California, assisting in the delivery of food and supplies to those affected.

Putting their charitable actions aside, numerous experts argue that Netflix should postpone the premiere of Meghan’s series.

UK branding and culture specialist Nick Ede informed Mail Online: “I believe Netflix executives will need to confront some major choices regarding whether to broadcast ‘With Love, Meghan’ in the upcoming week.”

The public relations expert stated: “Given that the program is heavily focused on Californian life, particularly in Los Angeles and Montecito, emphasizing aspirational and motivating lifestyles, I suspect it will be removed from its current timetable and postponed for at least several months.”

He also clarified that airing such a program during a “heartbreaking and challenging” phase would seem “insensitive and oblivious,” but it could be released at a later date, as ‘With Love, Meghan’ is not bound by a strict timeline.

Phil Dampier, author of ‘Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan In Their Own Words’, resonated with the expert’s caution, stating “the schedule for Meghan’s Netflix series could not have been more unfortunate as countless individuals have been displaced by the devastating fires.”

He mentioned to the MailOnline: “The last thing anyone is keen on is a show focused on hosting friends for canapés or arranging floral displays while the city faces such devastation and people have lost everything.”

Phil additionally remarked: “Some detractors had already criticized it, and now it appears completely out of context. She had a great deal riding on this and had been planning for months, if not a few years, so this situation is greatly unfortunate for her.”

‘With Love, Meghan’ will feature The Duchess of Sussex providing cooking and gardening advice alongside celebrity chefs and friends.
