ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan State track & field returned to competition with an impressive display at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Saturday.
 
Track Events
The Spartans commenced strongly in the women’s 60m dash, with Amani Nuels achieving third place with a time of 7.57. For the men’s 60m, Cameron Cheetam also secured third place with a personal-best time of 6.78. Michigan State continued to dominate, landing another third-place finish from Logan Allen in the 60m hurdles (8.06).

Noah Sage paved the way for the Spartan men by clinching first place in the 600m, finishing in 1:18.99. Following him, Alex Yon completed the race in fifth place with a time of 1:22.87. For the men’s 400m, Henry Shaieb took second overall and first amongst collegians with a personal-record time of 49.39.

In the men’s 300m, Terrance Muex landed third with a time of 34.24, which was only slightly off his personal-best of 34.23. For the women’s 300m, Elizabeth Anderson just missed the podium, placing fourth with a time of 40.35.

In the men’s 800m, Timothy Cherry was among three runners who broke the meet record. He finished second with a time of 1:50.57. Owen Gilbert placed fourth (1:55.39), while Levi Maier took fifth (1:56.03).

Field Events

Michigan State secured its first victory in the women’s weight throw. Veteran Valadian Pallett clinched first with a personal best throw of 19.44m. Janan Khalil came in second (17.60m), while Eriana Hubbard finished fourth (16.08m).

Continuing their strong performance, Michigan State also excelled in the men’s weight throw, placing 4-6. Xavier Griffiths finished fourth (18.35m). Colby Morlock achieved fifth with a new personal record (18.23), while Joshua DeVries secured sixth (17.65m).

In shot put, the Spartans recorded two fourth-place finishes. On the women’s side, Rylan Finstrom achieved a personal best throw of 14.21m. In the men’s shot put, Dalton DeBeau had a top throw of 14.58m.

After the Wolverine Invitational, the Spartans will head back to Ann Arbor next weekend for the Simmons-Harvey Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18.
