SCSU Women’s Swim & Dive Team Triumphs Over Assumption in Thrilling Matchup

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Southern Connecticut women’s swimming and diving team made their way to Assumption for their inaugural meet of 2025. They returned victorious defeating the Greyhounds 126-114.
 

200 Yard Medley Relay 

The Owls “A” 200 Yard Medley Relay unit comprising of Hailey Nyquist, Ally Quitos, Justice Glasgow, and Molly Kennedy triumphed in the event with a finishing time of 1:52.96. The “B” team, featuring Zoe McNeill, Abby Lyons, Jasmine Uricchio, and Ella Marzec secured second place with a time of 1:55.81.  

1650 Yard Freestyle 

Paola Castillo clinched victory in the 1650 Free with a time of 18:39.55. Meanwhile, Natalie Weier placed second with a time of 19:01.03 and Jordan Herman secured third with a time of 21:22.02. 

200 Yard Freestyle 

The winner of the 200 Free was Lindsay McCawley with a time of 2:04.15. Emma St. Hilaire placed second clocking in at 2:05.55, followed by Abbey Piech who finished third at 2:06.12.  

100 Yard Backstroke 

The Owls’ top performer in the 100 Back was Ella Marzec, finishing with a time of 1:01.95. Abby Lyons secured third with a time of 1:03.12, while Zoe McNeill came in fifth at 1:04.46.  

100 Yard Breaststroke 

Arianna Arturi took the 100 Breast title with a time of 1:10.22. Third place went to Ally Quitos with a time of 1:13.29, and Aralyn Vogel emerged fourth with a finishing time of 1:13.56.  

200 Yard Butterfly 

In the 200 Fly, Julia Pitchell concluded her race with a time of 2:16.26 to capture the win. Justice Glasgow finished second at 2:18.26, while Brooke Keeney came in third with a time of 2:18.81.  

50 Yard Freestyle 

Molly Kennedy won the 50 Free with a finishing time of 24.68. Reina Loiacano secured second place at 25.79, while Jasmine Uricchio came in fourth at 26.66.  

100 Yard Freestyle 

The Owls achieved the top two results in the 100 Free but were competing in exhibition. Kennedy concluded her race with a time of 54.38, while Uricchio clocked in at 57.84. Hailey Nyquist had the next quickest time at 1:01.33.  

200 Yard Backstroke 

Loiacano emerged victorious in this event clocking 2:18.17. Sierra DuCharme and Marzec swam in exhibition and recorded the fastest times of the race at 2:08.39 and 2:13.45, respectively.  

200 Yard Breaststroke 

St. Hilaire triumphed in this event with a time of 2:32.07. Lyons claimed the second fastest time at 2:33.29 while participating in exhibition.  

500 Yard Freestyle  

Kali Dominguez won the 500 Free with a time of 5:25.24. McCawley swam in exhibition, achieving the quickest time for the event at 5:23.04.  

100 Yard Butterfly 

The Owls participated in an exhibition but achieved the three fastest times in the 100 Fly. Pitchell recorded the leading time at 1:00.90, followed by McNeill at 1:05.06, and Nyquist secured the third quickest time at 1:06.19.  

200 Yard Individual Medley 

Although swimming in an exhibition, the Owls managed to record the three swiftest times in the 200 IM. Vogel had the quickest time, finishing at 2:17.15. Following him was Kennedy at 2:19.47, and DuCharme at 2:24.77 

200 Yard Freestyle Relay 

The Owls were involved in an exhibition yet still achieved the leading time in the 200 Free Relay at 1:43.14 – the team featured Uricchio, Marzec, Loiacano, and Arturi.  
 

The Owls are set to travel back to Massachusetts on Sunday, Jan. 19 to compete against Bentley.
