Stormy Seas: Swimming & Diving Faces Challenge in Spring Kickoff at Air Force Quad

USAF, Colo. – The swimming and diving program of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley faced a defeat against Air Force, Northern Colorado, and Colorado School of Mines on Saturday during the Air Force Quad Meet held at Cadet Natatorium in USAF, Colo.
 
The Vaqueros secured three top-five placements and 12 top-ten finishes during Saturday’s events.
 
Freshman Annaleagh Stahl achieved fourth place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:09.44 and fifth place in the 100 backstroke with a timing of 1:00.06. Stahl also placed seventh in the 200 individual medley.
 
On the other hand, junior Delaney Murphy attained fifth in the 3-meter springboard with a score of 228.55 and finished sixth in the 1-meter springboard.
 
In the 100 breaststroke, freshman Alexia Gonzalez secured ninth place with a timing of 1:24.57, while freshman Caitlynn Rubio claimed 10^th position.
 
Sophomore Olivia Votava placed 10^th in the 200 breaststroke clocking in at 2:47.99.
 
In the 200 medley relay, Stahl, Votava, sophomore Hailey Garcia-Rivas, and freshman Sarah Garcia finished ninth with a time of 1:56.01, while freshmen Lauren Uribe, Diara Aleman, Gonzalez, and Audrey Trevino achieved 10^th place.
 
In the 400 freestyle relay, freshman Madiana Lofgren, sophomores AJ Rogers and Chloe Siegrist, along with Garcia clinched ninth place, while freshmen Audrey Trevino, Caitlyn Brown, Rubio, and Abygail Martinez secured the 10^th position.
 
Next, the Vaqueros will host the North Texas Mean Green at the City of Pharr-PSJA Natatorium from January 24-25. The first day will commence at 5 p.m. and the second day will start at 11 a.m.
