WACO, Texas (KWTX) – The nonprofit organization, the Empty Frames Initiative, is committed to uplifting individuals in foster care and sharing their journeys, both positive and negative.

In order to create awareness regarding these experiences, the perils of human trafficking, and its connection to the foster care system, they developed a photography exhibit showcased at the Acts Church in Waco.

Artworks and personal accounts from 15 diverse artists from different states were presented for attendees of the Acts Church in Waco prior to their 11 a.m. Sunday service.

The exhibition was established by the nonprofit, the Empty Frames Initiative, and its founder, Miriam Cobb, states that each artwork provides a vital viewpoint to elevate understanding of the challenges within the system.

“They come from a broad spectrum of experiences within the foster care system; we have foster caregivers, social services staff, former foster youth, anti-trafficking advocates, and individuals who have faced both the foster care system and human trafficking. All of them united to share their narratives.”

Kelton Nixon, Youth Pastor at Acts Church, emphasized that sharing these narratives can inspire the community to support those affected by these problems and assist in any possible way.

“The Bible instructs us to care for orphans and widows, and therefore, we have a genuine duty to love these individuals and assist them to the best of our ability,” Nixon stated.
