The University of Mary Washington women’s swimming squad triumphed over Catholic on Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C., with a score of 229-57.

The Eagles kicked off the meet with enthusiasm in the 200-yard medley relay where Pheobe Root, Bridget Zagrobelny, Bri Wilson, and Spera Moy-Jacobs secured first place (1:52.28). In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Maddie Kryszon achieved first (11:05.34), while Kaylie Curran took second.

Spera Moy-Jacobs later finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.40), followed by Ashley Dyer in second place (2:03.24), and Sarah Brown came in third.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Zagrobelny clinched first place (1:10.11), while Delaney Humphrey earned third (1:13.62).

Wilson then claimed first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:13.13), with Carleigh Dillman (2:17.55) and Marina Klein finishing in second and third, respectively.

Soleli Clifford took first place in the 50-yard freestyle (25.67), while Anna Jayjack finished second (25.69). Moy-Jacobs also secured first in the 100-yard freestyle, and Ann Karr achieved third place.

Root dominated in the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.85), while Nora McMullen finished in second. Zagrobelny, Dyer, and Clifford took the top three spots in the 200-yard breaststroke.

In the 100-yard butterfly, podium spots were held by Wilson, Jayjack, and Root. Dillman, Zagrobelny, and Humphrey also filled the top positions in the 200-yard IM.

Emma Walker finished first in diving, contributing nine points to the Eagles’ total.

The Eagles will compete again on Saturday against Lynchburg in Fredericksburg, Va. at 1 p.m.
