CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Frostburg State Men’s Swimming squad achieved a two-day triumph at the Vulcan Invitational, surpassing Bethany and Salem (WV) each day.
FSU could not have asked for a finer beginning to the competition, as their 200 free relay teams secured first to third place, initiated by sophomore Dylan King, junior Josh Horner, senior Mikkel LeBlanc, and graduate PJ Emrich (1:30.60), followed by sophomores Josh Stokes and Tory Reynolds, freshman Dylan Dela-Vega, and senior Sean O’Connor (1:33.10), concluding with juniors Nigel Webster and Alex Whitton, sophomore Isaac Cummings, and freshman Nate Schwarz (1:34.06).
Senior Nate Canapp secured the first individual victory of the event in the 400 IM, finishing at 4:24.67, followed closely by Reynolds, who won the 50 free in 22.60. The dynamic duo of senior Tave Chanthavong (1:00.78) and Emrich (1:02.79) claimed victory in the 100 breast, while freshman Bradin Norris (2:09.36) led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 back, accompanied by Stokes (2:10.86) and Horner (2:11.64).
Ending the first day in a manner similar to its commencement, the Bobcats secured the top two positions in the 400 medley relay, as Stokes, Chanthavong, junior Andrew Wetherhold, and senior Jaden Tipton (3:47.73) took first, while Horner, Emrich, LeBlanc, and sophomore Jack Bond finished second at 3:48.95.
Frostburg concluded the day comfortably with 291 points, with Salem being the next nearest at 120.

Frostburg won the second competition with a slightly greater margin, accumulating 296 points, with the closest competitor at 116.
