NEW YORK — The women’s swimming and diving squad from Columbia is poised to hold its final home meet of the 2024-25 season at Uris Natatorium on Tuesday evening against the Brown Bears. The event is set to commence at 5 p.m.

SENIOR DAY
Before the competition begins, Columbia, along with Head Coach Diana Caskey, will recognize a group of 10 seniors, who will be competing in their final home meet on Tuesday. This group consists of Hannah Hailu, Ashley Hu, Emily MacDonald, Allison Martin, Aastha Mehta, Macy Pine, Riley Pujadas, Julia Unas, Taylor Whang, and Anthea Wong.

The Lions concluded the 2024 segment of their schedule by facing Princeton at the Big Al Invite. Though they faced a defeat against the Tigers, Columbia showcased numerous remarkable swims.

On the second day, Ashley Hu captivated everyone, winning the 100-breast with an outstanding time of 1:01.58. Natalia Diaz secured third place in the same event with a time of 1:03.24.

In the opening event of the weekend, the 200 free relay team kicked off the competition with a second-place finish. Emily MacDonaldSally MaIsabel Lee, and Audrey Wolk finished with a time of 1:31.79.

MacDonald maintained her sprinting excellence by finishing second in the 50 free with a time of 22.63.

On day three, Hu achieved one of the outstanding results of the day, taking third place in the 200 breast with a time of 2:15.11. Allison Martin also secured third in the 200 fly, stopping the clock at 2:00.67.

SCOUTING BROWN
The Bears currently hold a 3-3 record this season, with a 2-3 tally in Ivy League matches. Victories were against Dartmouth and Penn, while losses were to Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. In their most recent outing, Brown claimed first place at the Bruno Invite held at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center in Providence. Last year, Brown concluded with a 4-3 overall record along with a 4-3 mark in the Ivy League, inclusive of a 197-103 victory over Columbia.

The sequence of events for the women’s meet includes: 3M diving, 200 medley relay, 1000 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 1M diving, 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 500 freestyle, 100 butterfly – 10-minute interlude – 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle relay.

ON DECK
The Lions will experience a swift turnaround, traveling north to Ithaca, N.Y. on Thursday at 3 p.m. against Cornell for the initial of three away meets to conclude the season.
