Epic Gaming Marathon Nets $2.5 Million for Cancer Research!

The weeklong speedrunning marathon Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 concluded in the early hours of Sunday morning, with organizers reporting a total of $2,556,305 raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

As anticipated, the event in Pittsburgh showcased a joyful blend of expertise and fun: there was a Crazy Taxi speedrun accompanied by a live band; FunkopotamusWes performed on the piano during his run of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, using his head and feet to manage the game through motion controls; and Dr. Doot executed a speedrun of Elden Ring bosses utilizing an electric saxophone. Indeed, the saxophone produced little doot doot sounds throughout the performance.

AGDQ is among various charity-oriented events organized by Games Done Quick each year, with the next one, Back to Black, set for February. Featuring Black hosts and speedrunners, this event (Feb 6-9) will generate funds for the racial justice nonprofit, Race Forward. Over the years, Games Done Quick has successfully raised over $54 million for numerous charities, including Prevent Cancer Foundation and Doctors Without Borders. AGDQ also gathered around $2.5 million during its marathon last year.
