NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Brown men’s basketball squad (8-6, 0-1) was defeated 79-58 during their Ivy League debut at Yale (8-6, 1-0) on Saturday afternoon at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.

In a physical first half, both teams exchanged baskets while Yale maintained a lead that reached nine points in the initial 20 minutes. Brown managed to narrow the gap to six with an Alexander Lesburt Jr. three-pointer, but Yale took a 34-28 advantage into the second half. Landon Lewis led the Bears in the first half, contributing eight points and six rebounds.

A remarkable three-pointer from the logo by Kino Lilly Jr. reduced Yale’s lead to 51-48 with 10:37 left in the second half, marking the closest Brown would come as Yale finished the game with a 28-10 run to secure the victory. Yale’s lead ballooned to as much as 23 points in the second half.

The Bulldogs outscored the Bears 46-26 in the paint and held a 40-33 edge on the boards. The Bears shot 41.5 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from beyond the arc, while registering 14 turnovers as a team.

The Bears did lead in fast break points, finishing 15-8.

Lyndel Erold topped all Bears with 15 points on 5-8 shooting from the floor, while Landon Lewis also achieved double figures with 14 points and eight rebounds. Kino Lilly Jr. became the third Bear to score in double digits, ending with 13.

Lilly Jr. has climbed to second place on Brown men’s basketball’s all-time scoring list, currently holding 1,671 points for his career.

Brown will come back home to host Harvard on Saturday, Jan. 18, with tip-off scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Fans may acquire tickets here.
