“Swimming Stars Shine: Mary Washington’s Zagrobelny and Walker, Hu from Merchant Marine Claim NJAC Weekly Accolades”

PITMAN — The New Jersey Athletic Conference revealed its weekly accolades for women’s swimming and diving for the week concluding on Jan. 12.
 

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
BRIDGET ZAGROBELNY • University of Mary Washington
Junior • Fredericksburg, VA/Courtland
 
Zagrobelny has been awarded NJAC Swimmer of the Week for her pivotal role in guiding Mary Washington to a dominant 229-57 win over Catholic, triumphing in all three individual races she participated in. Zagrobelny finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.11), the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.14), and the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.75). She currently possesses the NJAC’s fastest 200 breaststroke time (19^th nationally) along with the second-best 100 breaststroke time. Moreover, she ranks fifth in the NJAC for the 200 IM.
 
 
DIVER OF THE WEEK
EMMA WALKER • University of Mary Washington
Senior • Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge
 
Walker secures her initial NJAC Diver of the Week title for the season due to her remarkable performance in Mary Washington’s win against Catholic. She achieved first place in the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 154.95 and also earned third place on the 1-meter board.
 
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
MEGAN HU • United States Merchant Marine Academy
Freshman • Syosset, NY/Syosset
 
Hu is recognized as NJAC Rookie of the Week after securing victories in all three individual events she competed in during Merchant Marine’s dual meet versus Scranton. Hu achieved wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.54), the 200 breaststroke (2:32.01, a personal best for the season), and the 200-yard individual medley (2:16.39). She also played a vital role as the second leg of the 400 medley relay, which finished in second place with a time of 4:18.60.
