Tigers Roar to Runner-Up Finish at Denver Quad!

DENVER — The University of Missouri gymnastics team placed second in their inaugural away meet of the 2025 season at the Denver Quad, achieving a score of 196.125 on Sunday afternoon at Magness Arena.

Ranked fifth, the Tigers secured victories against Georgia (195.925) and LIU (188.075), while losing to host No. 11 Denver (196.575). With a 5-1 record, Mizzou establishes its finest start through six competitions since the 2017 season.

SHOW STOPPERS

Three gymnasts from Missouri captured event titles in their respective categories. Mara Titarsolej (Zutphen, Netherlands) kicked off the day for the Tigers as the anchor for their initial rotation on bars, sharing the title with a score of 9.900. On the floor exercise, Kennedy Griffin (Strongsville, Ohio) and Jocelyn Moore (Hillsborough, New Jersey) achieved the highest scores of the day with performances rated at 9.925.

Uneven Bars

• Titarsolej’s score of 9.900 marks the 30th occasion in her career that she has matched or surpassed the mark on the bars.
• Amari Celestine’s (Wildomar, California) score of 9.850 was the second-highest for the team on this apparatus.
• Mizzou accumulated a total of 49.125 on the bars.

Beam

• The last three Tigers concluded strongly, led by Helen Hu (Chicago, Illinois).
• Hu’s score of 9.875 represented the team’s peak on the beam and her highest of the early season.

Floor

• Mizzou achieved the top floor score of the competition with a total of 49.450.
• After two weeks of competitions, the Tigers’ floor score at the Denver Quad is ranked sixth nationally.
• Among Mizzou’s six athletes participating on floor, three scored 9.900 or higher. MU was the only team in the competition that had a gymnast reach or surpass that mark.
• Griffin and Moore’s routines, which achieved a meet-high score of 9.925, came from the fifth and sixth spots in Mizzou’s lineup, respectively.
• Hannah Horton (Brooklyn Park, Minnesota) secured a score of 9.900, representing her sixth career routine scoring 9.900 or above.
• Elise Tisler (Fairfax Station, Virginia) made her debut in the Black & Gold, competing third on floor and scoring 9.875.

Vault

• Each gymnast from Mizzou met or exceeded the previous Tigers’ score on vault, the team’s final rotation, achieving a total of 48.975.
• The highest score for Missouri came from Celestine’s final routine of the day, which scored 9.825.

UP NEXT

Mizzou will face off against top-ranked Oklahoma to commence Southeastern Conference competition on Friday, Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center. This will be the first dual meet between the Tigers and Sooners since they were conference adversaries in the Big 12, the last of which took place on Feb. 17, 2012, at Hearnes Center.
