TRAFFORD, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College Swimming & Diving squad’s Morgan Baughman (West Newton, Pa./Mount Pleasant) and Amiyah White (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area) received the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer and Newcomer of the Week accolades, as announced by the conference on Monday (Jan. 13).
Baughman propelled the Presidents to their initial win in the 2025 season opener against Franciscan by clinching two individual events and contributing to two relay triumphs. In the individual competitions, Baughman dominated the short-distance freestyle events, finishing first in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle with respective times of 26.82 and 59.06. Additionally, Baughman played a crucial role in the 200-yard medley relay (2:04.08) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.16) relay, with the latter marking a season-best time for the Presidents.
White was instrumental in securing the victory for W&J over Franciscan in their inaugural appearance of 2025. She clinched the 1-meter dive with a total score of 321.65, which stands as the highest one-meter score in the PAC for this season thus far, adding nine team points to the Presidents’ overall triumph of 144-125 over the Barons.
W&J swimming & diving teams will return to the pool this upcoming Saturday (Jan. 18) to compete against the Allegheny Gators. The first event is set to commence at 1:00 p.m.
