Dotdash Meredith is seeking a multifaceted full-time photographer to collaborate across its various brand portfolios. You will be tasked with generating original content as outlined by the creative teams of the brands. This position may involve shooting still life in a studio one day and heading out to capture beauty and fashion on location the next. The photographer should grasp the occasionally subtle distinctions among the brands and swiftly switch styles from one brand to another.

The perfect candidate will possess a robust, adaptable portfolio, featuring portrait, beauty, lifestyle, and still life photography. They should have a demeanor that embraces new challenges and possess the ability to solve problems and shift focus based on priorities. A working familiarity with studio lighting using Profoto gear, Canon camera systems, and Capture One is essential. A degree in photography is advantageous but not mandatory. Experience on set, whether in a freelance or full-time role, is necessary.

75% Deliver original photography adhering to the guidelines set forth by photography, creative, or editorial leadership. Plan and execute all photography shoots using technical lighting skills and editorial judgment to produce photography. The output should meet or exceed the company’s standards and will be used for all media and publishing applications, ranging from editorial to marketing in both digital and print formats.

10% Oversee and maintain photography equipment and technical procedures.

5% Contribute to the planning, research, and testing of all equipment and procedures to optimize workflows. 

5% Ensure 100% accurate data management of photography media and associated services for publishing content. Manage photography archiving and retrieval for the Creative Library.

5% Provide guidance to the studio assistant

Minimum Qualifications and Job Prerequisites | All criteria must be fulfilled to be considered.

• An adaptable portfolio that encompasses lifestyle, beauty, fashion, food, and still life photography.

• Readiness to adjust to varying brand requirements. 

• Capacity to identify and implement subtle visual distinctions between our brands.

• Expertise in studio lighting (Profoto), Canon camera digital systems, and proficiency in Capture One

• Experience with on-set digital asset management

• Intermediate understanding of Photoshop for lighting adjustments, cropping, and resizing during shoots

• A demeanor that embraces new challenges and demonstrates the capability to adapt and pivot alongside changing priorities

• Ability to commute to NYC studios five days a week

• Over five years of experience shooting in a freelance or full-time capacity 

• Experience collaborating on set with clients and art directors

• A degree in Photography or a related field is preferred but not essential
