Diving into the Weekend: Men’s Swim Team Set to Take on Brown This Friday!

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men’s Swimming and Diving will travel south to Providence, Rhode Island, to compete against Brown in a Friday afternoon match scheduled to commence at noon ET.

What to Know

• The Crimson recently achieved a 178-122 non-conference win against Arizona last Friday in Tucson. Harvard triumphed over a Wildcats squad that was receiving votes in the CSCAA Top 25 Poll, enhancing their record to 4-0 this season.
• Harvard’s success over Arizona was its first competition since Dec. 7, the last day of the Minnesota Invitational. This also marked the Crimson’s first dual meet since a 201-99 victory against Columbia on Nov. 22.
• David Schmitt made a seamless return in Tucson as he shattered his own school record in the 200 butterfly. The sophomore clinched the event with a time of 1:41.25, surpassing his previous best of 1:42.17. Schmitt also claimed victory in the 100 fly, finishing in 45.99, which ranks as the third-best performance in the history of the school.
• Anthony Rincon swept the 100 and 200 back against the Wildcats, with his 100-back performance of 46.38 standing third all-time at Harvard. Joshua Chen, in contrast, delivered the fourth-best 100-breast performance in school history (53.62) and the seventh-best 200-breast time (1:56.99). Chen also emerged victorious in both events in the arid conditions.
• Additional victorious competitors at Arizona included Adriano Arioti (200 IM; 1:47.89), Sonny Wang (50 free; 19.64), and Adam Wesson (1-meter diving; 347.70).
• The Crimson resumes Ivy League competition on Friday for the first time since Nov. 22 and will enter the confrontation with Brown holding a 3-0 conference record.
• Harvard is 89-2 all-time against Brown and has emerged victorious in 29 consecutive meetings with the Bears. The Crimson has also clinched nine straight matches in Providence.
• The Crimson seeks to advance to 5-0 for the first time since the 2022-23 season when they ended the campaign at 7-0.
• Brown arrives at this contest with a 3-3 record and a 2-3 record in Ivy League events. Nevertheless, the Bears are 2-0 at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatic Center.
• Brown last competed on Jan. 11, where they faced a 165.50-134.50 defeat against Columbia. Before this loss, the Bears were on an impressive winning streak, defeating Dartmouth, Penn, and Bryant, and triumphed in the Bruno Invite.
