Gascon and Holm Shine as Contenders for National Goalie of the Year Honors

The University of Minnesota Duluth women’s hockey goaltending pair of Eve Gascon and Tindra Holm have been recognized in the Women’s Hockey Commissioners Association 2025 National Women’s Goalie of the Year, being among 33 goaltenders selected.

Holm is not only a three-time watch list honoree (2022, 2023), but Gascon is also a returning selection (2024); both goalies have been acknowledged as 2024 National Women’s Goalie of the Year semifinalists, with Holm also being a semifinalist in 2023.

At present, Gascon boasts the fifth-highest saves percentage among the goaltenders on the watch list at .944, along with a 1.62 goals against average highlighted by six victories over top-8 teams, including two shutouts. The Mascouche, Quebec native holds an 11-4-1 record this season with the No. 4 Bulldogs, along with four shutouts.

Holm currently offers a 4-1-1 record, a 1.82 GAA, and a .916 saves percentage. The Skellefteå, Sweden native has achieved two shutouts thus far this season.

Established in 2021, the award has seen at least one UMD goaltender attain semifinalist status from its inception. Former All-American Emma Soderberg was a top-3 finalist in 2023 after being a top-8 finalist in 2021.

This accolade was initiated in 2021 to honor the premier female goaltender in NCAA Division I hockey. The preliminary “Watch List” of exceptional goalies comprises those with a goals against average of 2.10 or lower or a save percentage of .920 or above. A voting committee consisting of a diverse group of coaches, administrators, and media will trim this list in the upcoming two weeks and ultimately select the winner, who will be revealed in March during the NCAA Frozen Four. NOTE: This process permits goalies not listed initially to be considered prior to the first vote.
