WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC swimmer Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Park) from Baldwin Wallace University has been recognized as the Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season and the second occasion in his career.

McQueary received the weekly honor after triumphing in three individual events and achieving a second-place finish as part of a relay team when BW faced Oberlin College in a non-conference and Seniors’ Day meet last Saturday.

He claimed victory in the 50-yard butterfly, 100-yard butterfly, and 100-yard individual medley, recording times of 23.30, 52.08, and 54.04, respectively.  McQueary also contributed as the third leg of the 200-yard medley relay team that secured second place with a time of 1:38.21.

Throughout this season, he has accomplished 14 individual race victories, achieved second in one race, and placed third in another. McQueary has additionally participated in three winning and three runner-up relay teams.

In terms of his career, McQueary is a two-time reigning OAC Champion in the 200-yard butterfly and a three-time All-OAC athlete.  He holds the school record for the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard butterfly.  McQueary also belongs to the relay teams that hold school records in the 200-yard freestyle, 400-yard freestyle, and 800-yard freestyle.

 

Beyond the pool, he is a two-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honoree, an Academic All-OAC selection, a Dean’s List student, a Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.

The Yellow Jackets will compete again on Saturday, January 18, as they head to Ada for an OAC dual match against Ohio Northern University at the ONU Sports Center Natatorium starting at 1 p.m.  BW will finish the regular season schedule on Friday, January 24, with an OAC dual meet against their crosstown rival, John Carroll University, at 6 p.m.
