UNCASVILLE  –Mohegan Sun has selected a new vice president of gaming for the Connecticut establishment.

Doug Vogelei from Old Saybrook assumed the role on Monday, Jan. 13. He will oversee strategic direction, supervision, and coordination of gaming operations, working together with Mohegan Sun’s gaming leadership team.

“Doug’s extensive experience in gaming operations and his capability to motivate large teams make him an ideal choice for this position,” stated Jeff Hamilton, president and general manager at Mohegan Sun. “We are assured that his proficiency will be a significant addition to our leadership team, and we are eager to see how he enhances the overall gaming environment.”

Vogelei arrives at Mohegan Sun as an experienced leader in the hospitality and gaming sectors, possessing over 30 years of strategic and practical expertise. His most recent role was as senior vice president of casino operations at Sycuan Casino Resort in El Cajon, California, from March 2020 until December 2024. He was responsible for guiding financial and operational plans across multiple gaming divisions.

Additionally, Vogelei has held prominent positions at Venetian Casino & Resorts in Las Vegas, where he spent over 20 years. During his time with the Venetian, Vogelei progressed through the gaming sector, ultimately managing table games, slots, and poker.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in hotel administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and is presently pursuing a master of business administration at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. He has also served on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation San Diego Chapter.

Located on 185 acres along the Thames River in picturesque Southeastern Connecticut, Mohegan Sun features two distinct casinos, 1,600 luxurious hotel rooms, two premier spas, two unique convention centers, an expo center, a golf course, over 70 shops, dining options, and bars, as well as three award-winning performance spaces, including a 10,000-seat arena that is home to the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun.
