COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior at Fresno State, Julia Matney has been named the Mountain West Swimmer of the Week. The senior from San Diego State, Valentina Lopez Arevalo was recognized as the MW Diver of the Week. Air Force’s Chloe Perkins received the MW Freshman of the Week acknowledgment.

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

JULIA MATNEY, FRESNO STATE

Senior, Centennial, Colorado/Centennial HS

  • Achieved first place in every event she entered.
  • Took first in the 200-yard butterfly with a personal record of 2:02.41.
  • Finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.18.
  • Participated in and contributed to the victory in the 400-yard medley relay that clocked in at 3:49.61, establishing a record for the Fresno State Aquatic Center.

  • Claimed victory in all three categories at the Lancer Diving Invitational.
  • Assisted the Aztecs in achieving first place in the women’s team rankings with a cumulative 184.00 points.
  • In the 1-meter springboard event, achieved a score of 289.15, exceeding the NCAA Diving Zone requirements.

  • On the 3-meter springboard, achieved a score of 291.50, exceeding the NCAA Diving Zone benchmark.
