Aggie Spirit: The Unstoppable Force of Texas A&M Athletics

BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M track & field’s Auhmad Robinson and Aleksandr Solovev received SEC weekly accolades after exceptional performances at the McFerrin-12 Degree Invitational, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Robinson was honored as SEC Men’s Runner of the Week after a record-setting display in the 300m. The senior finished the race in 32.34, propelling him to the No. 3 spot in the all-time collegiate rankings and marking the No. 4 performance in NCAA history. Additionally, Robinson was instrumental in the Aggies’ 4x400m relay team, which concluded the event with a time of 3:05.80, ranking it as the No. 1 time in the nation.


Solovev achieved the first weekly accolade of his career by being named SEC Men’s Freshman of the Week following a victorious debut in the men’s pole vault. The freshman cleared a height of 5.56m/18-3 during his inaugural event to secure the win and place him atop the national standings in this event. His performance also positioned him at No. 2 in the Aggies’ all-time record books, standing just behind A&M Olympian Jacob Wooten.

The Aggies will compete again this weekend, traveling to the Corky Classic in Lubbock, Texas, scheduled from Jan. 17-18.
