SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – University of Denver senior men’s swimmer Frank Tirone, senior men’s diver Zyad Morsy and junior women’s diver Kaitlin Calvery have been recognized as Summit League Peak Performers of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Tirone and Morsy played pivotal roles in guiding the Pioneer men to a 181-119 dual victory over Wyoming on Saturday afternoon in Laramie. This award marked Tirone’s first in his career, while Morsy achieved his sixth of the season and the 13th of his career, with Calvery receiving her third of the season and the fourth of her three-year tenure.
 
Tirone dominated the sprint freestyle events, clocking in at 20.74 in the 50 and 46.18 in the 100. The Denver senior also participated in two relays for the Pioneers, swimming a leg in the 400 freestyle which claimed first place on Saturday, and the 200 medley that secured second place.
 
Morsy triumphed in the men’s 1-meter dive with an NCAA Zone Cut score of 368.33. He later finished second in the 3-meter dive, scoring 309.45.
 
Calvery also achieved NCAA Zone Cuts in both her events on Saturday in Laramie, coming in second in the 1-meter with a score of 280.80 and again placing second in the 3-meter with a score of 305.78.
 
UP NEXT: Denver’s divers are set to return to competition next week at the Cal Diving Invite, scheduled for January 16-18. Meanwhile, the Pioneer swimmers will travel to Utah on Friday at 3 p.m. MT before competing against BYU on Saturday at 11 a.m. MT.
