Evan Yoo Clinches Second Big West Athlete of the Week Title in Swimming and Diving

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — As he continues to shine in his remarkable debut year as a Mustang, Evan Yoo secured yet another weekly accolade following last weekend’s victory in dual meets against UC Santa Cruz.

Out of the 12 dual-meet contests he engaged in this season (UCSB/CSUB/UCSC), Yoo triumphed in 10 and suffered only one defeat in an individual race.

Currently, Yoo boasts an eight-race winning streak, having remained undefeated in all races across the past two dual meets against Cal State Bakersfield and UC Santa Cruz.

In a decisive 235-63 team victory over the Banana Slugs, Yoo not only aided in winning both relays but also individually clinched victories in the 1000 Free (9:30.16) and 100 Fly (49.33), achieving the highest total wins of the day with four.

The junior transfer from Redondo Beach, Calif. holds program records in the 200 Breast and 200 IM, while also being part of teams that established all-time records in the 200 and 400 Medley Relays.

His fastest 200 Breast time this season (1:54.10), achieved during the Texas Hall of Fame Invitational, qualifies as an NCAA B-Cut and currently ranks tied for 31st in NCAA Division I, keeping him potentially in contention for an appearance at the NCAA Championships.
