New European Travel Rules: Mandatory Electronic Authorization for Adventurers

Purdue Travel has announced that 30 European nations now necessitate electronic travel authorization (ETA) for all U.S. citizens arriving in or transiting through these countries.

An online ETA application needs to be submitted at least 30 days before departure, which requires travelers to provide personal and professional details and upload images of themselves and their original passport. The expense related to acquiring an ETA qualifies as an eligible charge for Purdue Travel Cards and Purchasing Cards or may be reimbursed to the traveler if settled directly with personal finances. Each ETA will remain valid for two years or until the expiration date of the traveler’s passport, depending on which occurs first.

Although AAA Corporate Travel, Purdue’s affiliated travel agency, cannot complete ETA applications on behalf of travelers, agents are available to assist in organizing international travel arrangements or to provide consultation regarding necessary documentation prior to international travel for business purposes.
