How might you manage hibernation as a treatment to assist individuals recovering from strokes or heart attacks, or apply it to astronauts to help them withstand a lengthy journey to Mars? Researchers at Oregon Health & Science University have taken an initial step towards exploring these inquiries by simulating a hibernation state in rats, which typically do not hibernate.
