A recent report has disclosed that Tencent Holdings Ltd. along with the Guillemot family are attempting to establish a new enterprise centered around Ubisoft assets.

This is according to Bloomberg (paywall), which indicates that the consideration of forming a new venture would allow the Guillemot family to maintain oversight of Ubisoft while granting Tencent increased authority over a portion of its assets through the new business.

Reports suggest that Ubisoft is actively assessing its assets to identify which could be transferred to the new enterprise.

As previously mentioned by Ubisoft on January 9, the company has brought in advisors to analyze and explore “various strategies to enhance value.”

According to our own insiders, Insider Gaming has discovered that no conclusive decision has been made yet, and the company is presently evaluating its choices and leaning one way or another. As previously reported by Insider Gaming, the Guillemot family and Tencent may be awaiting the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows to influence the company’s trajectory.

Alternative avenues for preserving the company have included a potential sale to Tencent. Nevertheless, the Guillemot family’s aspiration to reclaim creative authority has seemingly halted that option, at least for the time being.

Ubisoft’s latest annual report reveals that Tencent and the Guillemot family hold 25.4% of Ubisoft’s share capital alongside 29.6% of the voting rights.

After a second delay, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now scheduled for release on March 20, 2025.

Ubisoft is actively developing several major titles expected to be released by the conclusion of 2026, including Splinter Cell Remake, Far Cry 7, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake, Assassin’s Creed Hexe, Ghost Recon Over, the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake, and a selection of other smaller projects under prominent IP banners. Titles such as The Division 3, the Rayman Remake, an additional Assassin’s Creed Remake codenamed Stardust, another leading Assassin’s Creed RPG, and Beyond Good and Evil 2 (which is currently making good progress) are scheduled for later releases.
