In Castlevania: Nocturne, formidable vampire slayer Richter Belmont alongside his companions confronts the Vampire Messiah in a frantic effort to avert perpetual darkness. The second chapter of the dark fantasy animated series begins streaming on Netflix today (16 January 2025), further delving into the ongoing conflict between mankind and the undead.
Building upon the intense finale of Season 1, Nocturne immerses viewers once again in a realm filled with chic vampire nobility, horrifying beasts, and conflicted hunters. Richter Belmont (Edward Bluemel), Maria (Pixie Davies), and Annette (Thuso Mbedu) grapple with the harrowing aftermath of their previous encounter with Erzsébet Báthory, the menacing Vampire Messiah.
As Erzsébet strives to command the complete might of Sekhmet, an ancient deity, to engulf the world in infinite dread, Richter and his comrades are joined by Alucard (James Callis), Dracula’s hybrid offspring, on a quest to thwart her.

The latest season trails Richter and his crew as they journey from Machecoul to Paris in a desperate attempt to find the final component necessary to counter Erzsébet’s strategy. Throughout their expedition, they navigate the perilous intrigues of vampire nobility, combat dark creatures, and confront treachery from unforeseen sources.
Richter continues to evolve in his role as a Belmont, with Alucard hesitantly stepping in as a guide. Simultaneously, Annette battles with memories and apparitions from her history, which may be pivotal in halting Erzsébet. Their character development and interpersonal dynamics are just as crucial to the narrative as the grand confrontations they encounter.
