Diving into Action: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Face Off Against Duke in a Two-Day Swim Showdown!

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech swim and dive team concludes their home competitions with a two-day meet this weekend at the McAuley Aquatic Center, hosting the Duke Blue Devils on Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18. The action will kick off on Friday at 3 p.m. and on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Saturday will mark Senior Day, during which Tech will honor 16 seniors prior to the meet. The ceremony is scheduled to commence at 10:35 a.m.

Live results will be available through the Meet Mobile app, and both days of the meet will be broadcasted on ACCNX.

The Yellow Jacket men’s team boasts a 3-0 record in dual meets this season, achieving victories against Emory, Florida State, and Pitt, and currently holds a No. 21 ranking in the latest CSCAA poll. The women’s team stands at 1-2 in dual meets, suffering losses to FSU and Pitt. Duke’s women’s team is presently ranked No. 20.

Tech recently participated in a tri-meet against Auburn and Carson-Newman, where the Yellow Jackets ended up splitting the meet. On the men’s side, Tech triumphed over Carson-Newman with a score of 250-43, but was defeated by Auburn, 96.50-204.50. Meanwhile, the women’s team achieved a victory of 243-42 against CN, but lost 84-216 to Auburn.

In the meet, Tech secured six event victories, including a clean sweep on the diving boards led by sophomore Max Fowler. Furthermore, Anna Bradescu won the 1-meter event. Additional wins in the tri-meet were recorded by freshman Uros Zivanovic (100 breast), Phoebe Wright (200 back), and Berke Saka (200 IM).

Wright, who transferred from George Washington University, has already made an impact this season, racking up four event victories, while freshman Zara Masud has achieved two event wins.

Saka, a senior from Turkey, boasts the most event victories on the team with nine, and has set four NCAA B Cut qualifying times – 200 free, 100 and 200 back, and 100 IM.

Another senior, Sophie Murphy, has accumulated five victories this season and has achieved two NCAA B Cut qualifying times – 100 free and 200 free.

Following Tuesday’s meet, Tech will head to South Carolina for a dual meet against the Gamecocks on Saturday, Jan. 25, starting at 10 a.m.
