MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women’s swimming & diving squad achieved five top finishes during the evening but narrowly missed in the overall scoring as the Cardinals were defeated in a dual meet against Trinity, 159-140, on Wednesday night at the Webster Family Natatorium.

Leading the charge for the Cardinals, with two top finishes and a second place, was Olivia Stevenson ’25. The senior captain was at the forefront, securing victories in the 500 free and 1000 free while adding a second place finish in the 400 IM. Stevenson’s active evening commenced with a commanding show in the 1000 free, finishing first by over a 25 second margin with a time of 11:04.16. She continued her impressive performance with another victory, finishing first with a time of 5:22.25 in the 500 free, before concluding with a second place finish in the 400 IM, touching the wall in 4:49.14.
 
Stevenson also participated in the 200 free relay for the Cardinals, partnering with Mia Dezelic ’27, Clara Preisig ’25, and Zoe Kuhn ’26 to achieve a second-place finish with a time of 1:41.75.
 
Dezelic contributed another victory for the Cardinals, taking first in the 100 back with a finish time of 59.24 seconds, while the sophomore also secured second in the 50 back (28.20) and played a part in a second place showing in the 200 medley relay, as the Cardinals’ A team finished in 1:51.79.
 
Joining Dezelic in that 200 medley was Preisig, Sara Bohacek ’26 and Izzy Paez ’26. Paez secured a second place finish in the 100 fly (1:00.27) and took third in the 50 fly (27.31).
 
Ella Hall ’28 achieved 2-for-2 on the night, leading the diving squad with a pair of top finishes in the 1m and 3m. Hall recorded a personal-best of 235.12 in the 1-meter, outpacing the competition, while she scored 222.52 in the 3-meter to earn her second top finish of the evening. Thisbe Diamond ’28 finished second to Hall in the 1m with a score of 216.90 while Sophie Taubman ’25 was second in the 3m (178.87).
 
Completing the field for Wesleyan was Kuhn who achieved a pair of second place finishes in the 50 free (25.47) and 100 free (26.89) while Keira Walsh ’28 secured second in the 200 free (2:03.79).
 
A busy week for Wesleyan continues Saturday as the Cardinals will host Springfield and Roger Williams for a tri-meet that kicks off at Noon. This meet also marks Senior Day for the Cardinals as it will be their final home meet of the 2024-25 season.
