ABOUT THE LADY TOPPERS
- The WKU Women’s Tennis program is currently experiencing its most successful three-year phase in history, having achieved 47 victories during this timeframe.
- The Lady Toppers concluded the 2024 season with a record of 14-11, equaling the fourth-highest number of wins in a single campaign in the program’s history.
- WKU is bringing back four of its eight athletes from the 2023-24 season: Sofia Blanco, Sunskrithi Damera, Rachel Hermanova, and Mariana Zegada. Additionally, WKU welcomed four newcomers this offseason, including Stephen F. Austin transfer Carolina Chiatti, Nevada transfer Mia Miranda, Marshall transfer Emily Schut, and Valparaiso transfer Elizabeth Sobieski.
- Senior Rachel Hermanova enters the season holding the highest rank in program history for career singles victories with 49, while fellow senior Sofia Blanco sits third with 40 victories. Blanco also ranks second in program history for career doubles wins with 38, and senior Mariana Zegada is fifth with 32 wins.
- The upcoming 2024-25 season will mark the seventh for Greg Davis leading the WKU Women’s Tennis program. He holds a 322-182 all-time record in his collegiate head coaching career since 1999, which places him 29th in total victories and 36th in winning percentage among current Division I women’s tennis head coaches with a minimum of five years as a Division I head coach entering the 2025 spring season.
- During the fall, the Lady Toppers took part in three events – the APSU Fall Tournament, the 2024 ITA Division I Women’s Ohio Valley Regional Championship, and the MTSU Invitational.
- Thursday marks the first of 16 planned home matches for WKU this season. Last season, the Lady Toppers achieved 11 victories at home, the second-highest number in a single season in program history, and secured a record-breaking eight-match home winning streak.
