King Charles has placed a personal note in a time capsule that will be interred in Ayrshire and unveiled in 100 years.

The King was the inaugural individual to insert an object into the King’s Foundation capsule at Dumfries House, located near Cumnock, during the charity’s 35th anniversary festivities.

The monarch was accompanied by singer Sir Rod Stewart and his spouse, Penny Lancaster, at the event for the organization he established as the Prince of Wales’ Institute of Architecture in 1990.

The charity intends to gather items that symbolize its efforts throughout the next year before entombing them in the capsule on the estate with the stipulation that it is not to be opened until 2125.

King Charles established the organization to encourage sustainability and enhance the public’s connection with nature.

It aids approximately 15,000 students annually through nature-themed educational programs and numerous others via community refurbishment initiatives.

In 2018, it merged into the Prince’s Foundation, which subsequently transformed into the King’s Foundation following his rise to the throne.

The charity operates from the Dumfries House estate, acquired by the King during his time as Prince of Wales in 2007.

He was residing at the estate when his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, fell gravely ill shortly before her passing in September 2022.

The details of King Charles’ letter will remain undisclosed until it is unearthed in a century’s time.

Kristina Murrin, the charity’s chief executive officer, stated: “We are immensely proud of what The King’s Foundation has accomplished over the past 35 years.

“I hope that those discovering the time capsule in 2125 will acknowledge the beneficial influence both the King and his foundation have had on the world and its communities.”

King Charles also hosted a meeting with Julius Maada Bio, the president of Sierra Leone, at the property.

The King was joined by TV presenter and charity representative, Alan Titchmarsh, during the gathering.

Stewart, 80, along with Lancaster, also referred to as Lady Stewart, are among several prominent ambassadors of the charity.

Former England football captain David Beckham and actress Sienna Miller have also held this role.

Stewart remarked: “We are thrilled to be joining as ambassadors for The King’s Foundation and anticipate lending our support to this valuable cause, especially during such a momentous year for the charity.”
