BRITS are missing out on more than £200 worth of idle devices they could effortlessly sell, recent findings indicate.

The typical UK household is discarding or hoarding over £218 of unnecessary mobile phones and other gadgets they no longer utilize.

Nearly one third (29 percent) of Brits are unaware that their unused devices could generate income, according to a study conducted by Virgin Media O2 with 2,002 participants.

Only 10 percent actually recycle their obsolete smartphones.

Keeping your phone in a drawer for months or years is also a significant waste, as devices lose value daily.

On average, Brits typically take up to three months to dispose of their old phone, according to the survey.

O2 Recycle – which is accessible to everyone, not just O2 customers – typically offers £136.46 for smartphones.

However, the program also accepts other devices you might not anticipate, such as earbuds.

On average, O2 Recycle provides £53.52.

You can also earn money for old consoles, laptops, tablets, and wearables.

“Sell your unnecessary mobile, laptop, or tech as soon as you’re finished with it,” stated Regina Mutonono from O2 Recycle.

“The earlier you sell it, the more cash you’re likely to receive for it.

“Be sure to remove the SIM card before selling the device (or memory card if applicable), but don’t fret about your personal data being retrievable, as O2 Recycle will erase data from all devices for you.”
