11 losses in a row in arcane mode… all 3 caps down to zero.
getting one-shot by a moving tank without having the opportunity to aim
being eliminated in spawn by an aircraft
unable to reveal even a small pixel of your tank without being destroyed

This game epitomizes insanity

… I’m going to grind AFK and watch TV at this stage…

Don’t play to grind
Play to learn the art of combat

I’ve surrendered. I utilize a PS5, and this game is evidently not designed for consoles. I can’t discover anything to grasp when you can’t even leave the spawn … I’ll just attempt to reach some tank I wish to try, then Bye! Bye! War Thunder. I’m just relieved I haven’t invested any money on it. At the very least, I would have learned that ;P

Aircraft in SB EC, not tanks but.

“I desire to learn X principle of flying/dogfighting and attain consistency in it.”
and
“I want to learn Y aircraft and gain proficiency in it.”

Key term: Consistency.
Not merely good. Being successful is fragile, relative, and relies on the lobby and aircraft. You can feel like an ace in one lobby, only to discover your opponents have each played for merely 30 hours and then have your ego crushed in the next lobby by individuals with thousands of hours.

If I begin practicing X technique/maneuver/adopting X principle to an extent that feels more consistent than prior to my focus on it, I feel satisfied with my improvement.

Or if it seems like aircraft Y has “clicked” and I’m no longer battling the beast but collaborating.

Identify a mode you enjoy even amidst losses 🙂

Seriously though – explore a bit to discover a mode/vehicle combination where the gameplay is fun – then the grind becomes insignificant.

It simply takes too long to aim on consoles to be competitive and survive more than a minute in battle. At least in tank battles. Aircraft are more welcoming to consoles but still fall short. My primary aim when engaging in a game is to have fun above all else. This game isn’t enjoyable for novice players. We are just far too behind.

Perhaps if Gaijin provided a “same device only” option, I would be willing to give it another chance, but for now.

P.S. 17 matches, 1 win, all steamrolled. So yeah, it’s just NOT FUN.

Engage in War Thunder to enjoy yourself. That’s all there is to say. Also, utilizing consoles isn’t problematic as long as you possess a headset.

Probably contending with

It’s a game, engage for enjoyment, learn; the most significant aspect of this entire game is learning and adapting to evolving technology, as well as skills. I wouldn’t classify myself as a “great player” by stats (If assisted kills were visible, I’d appear to be a god, probably) but I’m level 100, have progressed through 2 Air trees, 1 ground tree, and initiating another ground tree (USA). It required time to grasp the game and its peculiar interface along with mechanics, but with patience and commitment, you can pick it up quite swiftly, I didn’t fully begin to excel…

on it until I reached around Lvl 40 and purchased my first premium along with several other items in my timeline.

Utilizing mouse and keyboard on console can significantly ease your experience. If that’s an option, give it a shot. If not, you can still perform adequately in tanks with the right strategies and practice. Controlling planes can be notably more challenging with a controller than with mouse and keyboard (unless you participate in sim mode).

Unless you’ve been here since beta testing, it has always been this way. Every seasoned player you encounter once started as a novice. When I began playing, I had a very similar experience. While I’m not an exceptional player, I manage to maintain a mostly positive KDR, with occasional matches of 10-15 kills. It’s merely part of the learning curve. If you seek a game with a very low skill entry point, WT isn’t it.

You can disable cross-platform play through the Options menu, however, the wait times will be significantly longer, and you will still encounter experienced players and those using mouse and keyboard.

My friend, you have literal aim assist on console for SPAAGs. Also, if you are exposing your turret over a depression, you’re not getting pixel-killed.

Lower your graphics settings to ultra-low. Gaijin often creates hills that are visually taller rather than hitbox-wise. So lower it if you want to see the real hills.

Furthermore, do not overcommit yourself (this means don’t push toward their spawn if no one else is nearby. You’ll be targeted immediately since you’re a solitary tank).

Additionally, rely more on Binoculars. While you don’t have to use it constantly, it can be very beneficial. Lastly, if you know an enemy plane is in the area, cease your movement. In certain terrains, this makes it harder for you to be detected.

Our planes heavily depend on flying low to the ground or spotting moving objects. Without that, the chances of detection are reduced. If feasible, use the squad command to announce the plane (“Air alert”).

Wow! Someone should have informed me 3000 hours ago… and here I am… gaming with my headset and controller!
And when do I receive that aimbot everyone claims console players get?

@Caillus_Prepus
Here are some fundamental pointers for War Thunder:

Don’t play solo – find a Squadron that you connect with where members support one another.
Enjoy yourself – it’s a game, and it can be extremely frustrating, so try not to take yourself or the game too seriously.
Pause at certain BRs – Catch up with your TT at various BRs and accumulate some SLs that you’ll require for progression.

Lastly, understand that you are at a slight disadvantage on console. Consider connecting a mouse and keyboard for enhanced gameplay.
However, one essential item is a headset; you need to hear where an enemy is situated or coming from. Make sure your keybinds are user-friendly and decide which ones are necessary and which are not. Many keybinds are advantageous for Sim play but may be unnecessary in other modes.

Also, see if you prefer Realistic Battles more, as it levels the playing field for everyone 🙂

But aim velocity is determined by vehicle attributes and crew (turret traverse speed, etc).

Crazed Otter’s Guide to War Thunder Enjoyment – COGWUT for short.

Step 1 – Treat it like a game. It’s all about having fun.

Step 2 – If you discover a BR/Nation/Mode you like, stay with it. You don’t need to progress up trees to have enjoyment.

Step 3 – Put Razervon and Mr. Flogger on Ignore.

Step 4 – Top tier can be quite frustrating. It isn’t enjoyable. Mid tiers tend to be significantly more fun.

Step 5 – Team up with friends and collectively endure… ahem… relish the game as a group.

Step 6 – If WT begins to feel like a grind, a job, and/or a burden – take a hiatus. Play a different game, build model kits, do whatever recharges you.

Step 7 – If you encounter Crazed Otter in-game and he inadvertently crashes into you, or accidentally deploys smoke instead of AP – see it as another form of entertainment. Seriously.

Step 8 – Profit.

You need to perceive this for what it is… A VIDEO GAME.
You won’t earn money; you’ll only spend.
You won’t achieve fame from this.
Your KD and everything is completely meaningless.
Laugh at…
“`everything you observe in chat and don’t take it to heart.
Expect nothing from random participants.

Once you achieve this, you will experience enjoyment, believe me.

Seal clubbing isn’t a reality. The vehicles exist for gameplay. Being a high level does not necessitate playing top tier. I’m at level 100 and still drop into lower BRs. Honestly, sometimes I even switch to bi planes just to relish the chaos those BRs create… If you’re a newcomer, concentrate on grasping the mechanics and eventually just shift your attention to using vehicles you enjoy and the grind will fade into the background. Eventually, you’ll master the vehicle and the maps and improve your skills. If you’re a beginner and dive in expecting to be the best, you’re approaching it incorrectly.

Oh, I enjoy playing 1.3 Germany, or 3.0 Germany, or 3.3/7 Germany, I take pleasure in playing these at level 100 and completely dominating the opponents with 30+ kills.

It’s simply not equitable, they ought to implement SBMM or make matchmaking based on general level.

However, levels don’t signify anything beyond how long you have played. It’s not based on skill. I observe level 100s being defeated by level 30s.

Being defeated by level 30s indicates that you are either outnumbered or outclassed; no one with that extensive experience in the game should be losing to them.

Generally speaking:

More time = More skill/expertise
