The annual Broomfield Brain Trust trivia competition, organized by the Broomfield Crossing Rotary Foundation, will challenge teams once again to a test of intellect for the sake of enhancing community spirit.
Now in its eighth iteration, this annual event guarantees more than just a straightforward trivia challenge.
“We aim to create a lively atmosphere; it’s purely a celebration,” said Jeff Taylor, head of the Broomfield Brain Trust. “Every aspect, from table decor to balloons and music, is intended to ensure it’s a highly enjoyable affair.”
This year’s gathering is scheduled for 6 p.m. on February 28 at the Chateaux at Fox Meadows, and spots are anticipated to fill rapidly. Contest among participants is intense, with winners frequently decided after tie-breaking rounds.
“A sign of the event’s success is the substantial number of returning teams we observe,” Taylor noted. “I have already secured spots for 20 teams this year, all of which are returning teams from prior events.”
This year, the rotary club is providing a special incentive for teams that introduce a new team to participate in the event — a $100 discount on each team’s registration fee.
Teams are made up of four to six members who collaboratively answer questions from secret categories revealed only at the event. The entry cost is $400 per team.
The event will be catered by local pizza establishment iPie and will see the support of volunteers from Legacy and Broomfield High Schools.
“Our volunteers assist us in table decoration, setup, and we employ them as moderators,” McKee stated. “Each table will have a moderator responsible for evaluating all submitted answers.”
The funds raised during the event contribute to the rotary’s goal of uplifting the Broomfield community through service.
The items the club repackages include oatmeal, sugar, flour, beans, and more. This allows the rotary to buy food at significantly lower rates compared to smaller packaging, all while supporting those who utilize the food bank’s marketplace.
“We are continually searching for new individuals to assemble a team,” McKee remarked. “We believe it’s a great deal of fun.”
