LEWISBURG, Pa. – Jack Krug spearheaded a significant day for the Bucknell divers, achieving two victories, while Chris Kopac, Andy Dorsel, and Alex Crossing also claimed wins for the Bison. However, it proved insufficient as a formidable Loyola men’s swimming and diving team established an early dominant lead and maintained it for a 194-106 outcome on Friday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium.

Krug’s remarkable display featured a personal-best score in the 1-meter diving event. His 295.65 points positioned him in a tie for second on Bucknell’s all-time performers list. The school record of 318.15 set by Adam Freeman in 2005 remains intact, while Krug now shares the No. 2 spot with David Magaro (2010). Previously, Krug held the fifth position with a prior best of 281.90, achieved at last year’s Patriot League Championships.

Fellow diver Jackson Vinarub secured second place in the 1-meter competition with a commendable 280.13. On the 3-meter board, it was a near tie for the top two positions between Krug (290.85) and Vinarub (290.70), with Connor Thurston (268.65) completing a 1-2-3 Bucknell finish.

Kopac recorded his team-leading sixth victory of the season with a narrow win over Loyola’s Hayden Bartz in the 200-yard freestyle. Later, Crossing touched out Bartz by just .24 seconds in one of the day’s highlight races for the 500 free.

Dorsel capped off the individual events with a triumph in the 200 individual medley, while teammate Dante Buonadonna placed second. Dorsel also secured a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke.

Bucknell performed strongly in the 50 free, with Finn Russell and Justin DiSanto finishing second and third, respectively. DiSanto later returned to secure third place in the 100 free.

Loyola improved its record to 6-2 this season, with its only defeats coming from LSU and Navy, totaling five 1-2-3 finishes and achieving 1-2 in three other events.

Next for the Bison is their Senior Day event against Lehigh next Saturday at Kinney Natatorium.
