EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Returning to competition for the first time since mid-November, the University of Evansville swimming and diving squads will be visiting USI on Saturday.
 
The event starts at 10 a.m. with the diving segment of the contest, followed by swimming commencing at 1 p.m. at the USI Aquatic Center. Admission is complimentary.
 
The last appearance of UE was at the A3 Invite in Carbondale, Ill., where both teams secured top five placements at the competition. The Purple Aces men’s team finished in fourth position, while the women’s team secured fifth.
 
The multi-day event concluded with a strong performance from Evansville. Joseph Capo achieved the highest placement for the men on the last day. Clocking a time of 16:09.18 in the 1650-Freestyle, he secured third place. Another third-place result arose in the 400-Free Relay, where Michael Pruett, Ben Hasanovic, Logan Tenison, and Daniel Santos Lopez finished in 3:03.32. In the A Final of the 200-Backstroke, Patrik Vilbergsson captured fourth place with a time of 1:49.66.
 
Santos Lopez led UE with a fourth-place finish in the A Final of the 100-Free race, completing the event in 45.34. Michael Pruett ended third in the B Final, recording a time of 45.98. In the 200-Breaststroke, Joao Pereira achieved a top five result in the A Final, finishing with a time of 2:05.01, placing fifth.
 
Sveva Brugnoli highlighted the final day for the women’s team with her victorious time of 2:04.47 in the A Final of the 200-Fly. Evelyn Chin placed in the top five during the B Final, finishing fourth with a performance of 2:13.54.
 
Mari Mueller rounded up in fourth for the A Final in the 200-Breaststroke, posting a time of 2:21.42. Rafaela Markarewicz finished sixth in the B Final with a time of 2:27.02. Ane Madina delivered a solid performance in the B Final of the 200-Backstroke, finishing in 2:07.84 and placed fourth. Hannah Krings secured a top ten spot in the 1650-Free, finishing 10th with a time of 18:11.37.
 
In the 400-Free Relay, Madina, Brugnoli, Rebecca Lago, and Mia Pesavento achieved a fifth-place finish, completing the race in 3:34.74.
