“Shockwaves in Gaming: God of War and Another PlayStation Live Service Title Axed!”

A recent report has disclosed that Sony has annulled two additional PlayStation live service games, one from Bend Studio and the other from Bluepoint Games. Furthermore, it was underscored after the report was published that one of the cancelled titles, being developed by Bluepoint, was a live-service God of War game.

The report emphasized that ‘a recent evaluation’ prompted the cancellation of these two undisclosed projects, and that following this announcement, PlayStation plans to persist in endorsing the development of single-player and multiplayer games.

Never To Be Disclosed

In a recent piece posted by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, it was disclosed that two live-service titles intended for PlayStation were suddenly annulled. It was noted that neither affected studio will be shut down:

Bend and Bluepoint are exceptionally skilled teams who are respected members of the PlayStation Studios family, and we are collaborating closely with each studio to identify what their upcoming projects will be.

This marks the latest in a series of live-service games terminated by PlayStation in recent years.

On social media, Schreier verified that the Bluepoint title would have been a live-service God of War game. It remains unclear what the Bend Studio project was intended to be, but early last year, the studio was seeking developers for an AAA live-service game with a military sci-fi ‘vibe’.

Bend Studio faced some ‘leaks’ in December, with visuals circulating online of the company’s (now cancelled) game. The visuals were reportedly extracted from a Google Drive and were subjected to DMCA notifications from PlayStation, adding credibility to their authenticity.
