FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Joseph Stewart and Andrew Cataldo received weekly recognition from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for their performances against Boston University and Colgate University last weekend. Stewart was awarded male swimmer of the week while Cataldo took home male diver of the week.

Stewart achieved two individual victories and participated in the second-place relay during Fairfield’s competition against Boston University and Colgate. He started the day with a first-place finish in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:42.18, before seizing the top position in the 100 free, finishing the distance in 46.39. He concluded his day contributing to the 200 free relay team, aiding the quartet in securing second place with a time of 1:25.42.

Cataldo contributed to two of the team’s 13 first-place finishes versus Boston University and Colgate by dominating the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. He attained a NCAA zone cut with his performance on the 1-meter board, amassing 304.70 points, which was the only score to exceed 300 points in the event. He capped off the sweep with a score of 276.10 points in the 3-meter dive, winning the event by nearly 20 points. This weekly accolade marked Cataldo’s fifth of the season, having previously won on October 9, 16, and 23, as well as November 27.

The swimming and diving teams of Fairfield University will proceed with their season by visiting MAAC rival Iona University on Saturday, January 18. The meet is set to commence at 1 pm.
