Depaul compiled a 14-10 overall record in the 2023-24 season, which led them to clinch the Big East title. The Blue Demons faced defeat against No. 5 Kentucky in the initial round of the NCAA Tournament.

Wisconsin concluded last season with a 1-22 record and faced Princeton at Jadwin Gym. The Tigers attained a 6-1 victory, extending their winning streak to 10 matches at that time.
