Center for Games and Interactive Entertainment Celebrates Opening
VALPARAISO – Valparaiso University is delighted to welcome you to the grand opening of the Center for Games and Interactive Entertainment. This cutting-edge facility is focused on exploring and understanding the rapidly evolving gaming sector, which includes video games, tabletop games, card games, and role-playing games. It also functions as a resource for educators to utilize the full capabilities of games as effective educational instruments.

What: The Center for Games and Interactive Entertainment will feature advanced gaming technology, such as a virtual reality arena, a video game console and computer lab, a “couch co-op” room designed for collaborative gameplay, a board game library, and a space for online streaming.
Joseph Goodman, the creator and CEO of the role-playing game company Goodman Games, will be the special guest at the center’s inauguration. Goodman has actively participated in various gaming courses at Valparaiso University and is generously contributing $4,000 worth of books and resources to support the Center. The Center for Games and Interactive Entertainment has been made feasible through a $25,000 Ball Venture Grant awarded in 2023. The initiative is led by Martin Buinicki, Ph.D., a professor of English and Richard P. Baepler Distinguished Professor in the Humanities.
