FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men’s Swimming squad capped off their regular season with a commanding home victory over Salem on Friday afternoon, finishing with a score of 178-62.
 
The 200-meter medley relay squad comprised of senior Tave Chanthavong alongside sophomores Josh Stokes, Dylan King, and Tory Reynolds kicked off the event for Frostburg with a first-place finish at 1:47.93.  Chanthavong later secured first in the 100-meter breaststroke, clocking in at 1:09.98, while senior Nate Canapp followed up with victories in the 800-meter freestyle (8:47.09) and 400-meter freestyle (4:12.91).    
 
Furthering FSU’s accomplishments in individual events were King and freshman Bradin Norris, with King winning the 100-meter freestyle in a time of 47.44, and Norris claiming victory in the 200-meter backstroke with a 2:13.06 swim.  Freshman Nathan Schwarz achieved a second-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle, timing 2:02.84, while fellow freshman Dylan Dela-Vega finished closely behind in third at 2:09.49. 
 
The Bobcats delivered a trio of 1-2-3 finishes to conclude the day, beginning with the 100-meter backstroke where Stokes (1:01.22), junior Josh Horner (1:02.97), and sophomore Isaac Cummings (1:09.54) finished in the top three.  Reynolds (24.31), senior Jaden Tipton (25.92), and senior Mikkel LeBlanc (26.59) took the top three spots in the 50-meter freestyle, while King (1:00.09), junior Andrew Wetherhold (1:03.71), and Stokes (1:07.57) completed the top three in the 100-meter butterfly.
 
Horner, King, Norris, and Canapp spearheaded the 800-meter freestyle relay with a finishing time of 8:09.06, while the team of graduate PJ Emrich, Tipton, junior Alex Whitton, and sophomore Jack Bond took second place with a time of 8:24.05. 
 
With this victory, Frostburg concludes the regular season with a record of 5-3, as Salem falls to 2-3.  The Bobcats are now preparing for the GMAC/MEC Championships starting on Wednesday, February 12 in Canton, Ohio.  For further details and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
