On my second day in the role, the Regional Patrol Commander assigned me the task of obtaining a full map of all Law Enforcement and Investigations personnel in Region 4, including their duty locations and photographs. While it seemed straightforward initially, this endeavor has evolved into a complex project. Firstly, locating a full-sized map of Region 4, finding a location to print it, and acquiring a place to frame it proved to be challenging. Additionally, I compiled the names, forest, and duty locations of all staff and had them printed and laminated. It was evident that this project held significance for the Commander, and he desired a swift completion. However, the print and frame shop had alternative plans. Now, as I approach my third month in the position, the map has finally been produced and the labels printed. Stay tuned for the grand reveal when the credential pictures for the Law Enforcement Officers arrive!

Besides that, I had the chance to participate in the interview panel last week for a Patrol Captain role that became available in Region 4. I conducted reference checks and coordinated the Teams interviews for all candidates. We held 4 interviews, and it was enlightening to observe the complete hiring process and the structure involved. After all interviews, I provided my input and uploaded the notes I had taken.

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying getting acquainted with all the individuals involved in the Forest Service Law Enforcement office here in Ogden, as well as those in adjacent Forest Service departments. We truly have an excellent team at the Regional Office!

Additionally…Check out this photo I captured on my way home of Ben Lomond Mountain (situated in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest) receiving its initial dusting of snow for the season.
