COLUMBIA, Mo. – Kristi Perez-Snyman matched the high jump program record and Alicia Burnett established multiple facility records as the University of Missouri track & field program concluded the Show-Me Showdown Friday at Hearnes Center Fieldhouse.
TOP TIGERS
Perez-Snyman, a senior from Cape Town, South Africa, successfully made her first attempt four times consecutively, including the record-equaling height of 1.83m, thus matching the Mizzou record. This mark was initially set by Hanne Skei Anderson in 1993 and only duplicated by Valeria Kostiuk in 2018. So far in 2025, Perez-Snyman’s achievement ranks fourth nationally.
Burnett established facility records each time she hit the track on Friday. The graduate student from St. Louis completed the 60m dash in 7.29 seconds, surpassing a previous 7.33 mark held by LaQuisha Jackson since 2016. Additionally, Burnett, a 2024 All-American, revised the record books for a second occasion in the 200m, finishing six-tenths of a second ahead of her closest rival in 23.58, setting a new personal record. This execution exceeded a mark that had persisted since 1991 when Olympian Ximena Restrepo (Nebraska) recorded a 23.93 time.
Junior sprinter Robert Hines was among the quickest men in the venue on Friday, achieving personal bests in both the 60m and 200m. In the 60m, Hines’ victorious time of 6.74 elevated him to fourth in program history with a tie alongside Nylo Clarke, falling less than two-tenths shy of the record. Later in the competition, Hines finished the 200m in 21.78 to secure third place.
RECAP
The Showdown, which hosted all six Division I institutions based in the Show-Me State, witnessed six Tiger triumphs as the home team secured a total of 22 podium positions while establishing 14 new personal records.
Junior thrower Petra Gombas claimed her second consecutive weight throw victory while sophomores Delilah Pippen and Dallas Jenkins consistently achieved personal bests. Gombas’ throw of 18.46m surpassed SEMO’s silver medalist by more than a meter.
Perez-Snyman led a podium sweep for the Tigers in the high jump, as senior Claudina Diaz and freshman Marlena Tresnjo both cleared 1.78m, marking a top-15 performance nationally this season.
The Missouri men excelled in the mile run, as all of the top nine finishers in the 20-man race, regardless of affiliation, were from MU. Junior Ryder James set the tempo, finishing in 4:06.60 while achieving a personal best. Classmate Tyler Freiner (4:09.96) and senior Royce Fisher (4:12.48) also set new career records, with the top eight finishers concluding within six seconds of one another.
