JOHN KNIGHT SOWLE, departed this life on January 9, 2025. He was 92 years old. He was born on March 1, 1932, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was predeceased by his spouse of 72 years, Frances Ann Sowle; his father, Clyde Sowle; his mother, Katherine Knight Sowle; and his sibling, Gordon Sowle. He is survived by his son, Steve Sowle (Gloria), of Benton, Arkansas; daughter, Julie Jenkins (Steve), of Sherwood, Arkansas; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. John graduated from the University of Arkansas and obtained his master’s degree in engineering from The University of Oklahoma. John served in the U.S. Air Force and subsequently worked for the U.S. Postal Service for more than thirty years. An enthusiastic fisherman, he had a passion for trains, gadgets, and tinkering in his workshop. He cherished camping at Lake DeGray with his father-in-law, his son, and his grandson. John exemplified a sense of duty and fulfilled that duty through his service to his nation, his community, and his church. Above all, John was a Christian, living his life in a way that honored God. We are assured that he is now reunited with his cherished wife and has been welcomed into Heaven with that phrase we all yearn to hear… “Welcome, good and faithful servant.”
Services will take place at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock on Monday, January 20, at 11 a.m. The visitation will commence at 10 a.m. A private interment service will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas.
