(Cullman Senior Center)

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Senior Center has recently offered a well-received introductory class on frame loom weaving, and the next session for this year is already scheduled. The class, designed for individuals aged 60 and above, is set for Tuesday, Feb. 18, starting at 1 p.m. at the center.

The manager of the Cullman Senior Center, Kristie Young, mentioned that the class fee is $42 per person, encompassing all necessary materials. As seating is limited, those interested should register promptly. Emily Wallace from Handwoven Designs will be the instructor for this session.

Enroll for the weaving class at or visit the center directly.

Another exciting option is the fused glass art class, scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, at 12:30 p.m. at the center.

For $22 per participant, attendees can create a fused glass flowerpot magnet to take home. As with the weaving class, the seating for this workshop, led by Kimberly Love, is also limited, so early registration is recommended.

Register for the fused glass art class at or visit the center.

Young stated that the center had provided a line dancing class for 18 months before pausing for the holiday season.

“We are set to recommence the line dancing class on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 12:30 p.m.,” she said. “This class welcomes both beginners and intermediate dancers. Participation is free, and the instructor is Patricia Quick.”

All programs at the center are accessible to those aged 60 and older. Young indicated that there are some exceptions—for instance, a senior over 60 accompanied by an adult child who wishes to join.

The Cullman Senior Center is situated at 1539 Sportsman Lake Road NW in Cullman. For more information, call 256-734-0145 or explore Cullman Senior Center and Travel on Facebook.
