Travel firms now have a novel resource to assist them in discovering eco-friendly tours and initiatives within the Hawaiian Islands via Tourism Cares’ Meaningful Travel Map of Hawaii. The objective of the nonprofit is to aid travelers and consultants in crafting more conscientious itineraries.
“Tourism Cares is thrilled to partner with the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) and Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau on our Meaningful Travel Program to help manage its destination in a more significant and responsible manner,” stated Greg Takehara, CEO of Tourism Cares, in a public statement. “We recognize that the travel sector continues to encounter obstacles, ranging from global climate change and biodiversity depletion to cultural decline and economic inequalities. With the launch of the Meaningful Travel Map of Hawaii, we aspire for the industry to choose more allies that are creating positive influences and tackling these matters in a manner that is advantageous for locals and engaging for visitors.”
Businesses in Hawaii featured on the map comprise the Maui Pineapple Tour, Skyline Hawaii, Gunstock Ranch, and Trilogy Excursions. The listings outline how each business addresses sustainability and whether they offer commissions to travel consultants.
“The essence of our malama Hawaii message invites visitors who genuinely care, those who seek purposeful experiences during their stay in the Hawaiian Islands,” remarked Daniel Nahoopii, the HTA’s interim CEO, in the press release. “We endorse the work of Tourism Cares to broaden the Meaningful Map Program to encompass Hawaii. As the Hawaii Tourism Authority promotes a vision of regenerative tourism in the Islands, we look forward to more opportunities for visitors to engage with enriching experiences that benefit our communities and the environment.”
