Holloman Shines with 17 Points as No. 12 Michigan State Edges Out No. 19 Illinois in Thrilling 80-78 Showdown

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Three athletes reached double digits as part of 10 different players contributing overall, with No. 12 Michigan State executing a late surge in the second half to triumph over No. 19 Illinois, 80-78, in a lively Breslin Center on Sunday afternoon.

Junior guard Tre Holloman achieved a team-best 17 points, including converting 7-of-8 free throws, alongside two rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal.

Sophomore forward Coen Carr contributed 11 points and two blocked shots, while senior forward Frankie Fidler amassed 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Records

Michigan State, now on an 11-game winning streak, increases its overall record to 16-2 and remains undefeated at 7-0 in the Big Ten Conference, while Illinois drops to 13-5 overall and 5-3 within the league.
