The Patriots women’s swimming and diving squad concluded the regular season with a 190-82 victory against Indiana Wesleyan on senior day, Saturday afternoon at the Patriots Aquatic Center. Cumberlands had two divers achieve the national qualification, while accumulating 12 wins and 17 NAIA provisional marks.

After honoring their 2025 senior cohort, the Patriots commenced the meet with Sarah Zoellner, Megan Schoenlein, Filippa Malmstrom, and Celin Ullern teaming together to secure a winning time of 1:52.09 in the 200 medley relay.

During the one-meter diving event, both Sage Lorentz and Sage Howe achieved the NAIA “A” standard. Lorentz, who qualified earlier, scored a 198.50, while Howe recorded a score of 182.95 to hit the standard for the first time.

Cumberlands triumphed in 11 out of the 12 individual swimming events, with ten of those victories coming from different competitors. Senior Ashley Schoenlein touched the wall in 2:28.71 to clinch the 200 breaststroke.

Ugne Takuseviciute maintained her strong performance, securing her third individual victory by pulling ahead in the 200 free with a time of 2:00.18. She also recorded a time of 55.64 in the 100 free.

For the second consecutive day, Ullern raced her way to victory in the 50 free, achieving a time of 25.29. UC continued to excel in the distance free events, with Michelle Weiss finishing in 5:22.87 to take first in the 500 free, while Juliana Lopez Morales completed the 1,000 free in 10:49.55 to secure first place.

Madeline Barbee achieved the NAIA provisional mark with a time of 2:15.16 to win the 200 back. Zoellner followed her relay victory with a first-place finish in the 100 back, clocking in at 1:00.77. The sophomore also registered a time of 1:00.26 to win the 100 fly.

Megan Schoenlein led a group of four UC swimmers in the 100 breaststroke that achieved the provisional mark. The freshman finished first with a time of 1:08.10, followed by Moa Nyblom (1:09.09), Abbey Richardson (1:10.15), and Kathryn Harrison (1:10.22) all securing top-five finishes.

Ximena Melendez Hernandez secured two NAIA provisional times in the fly events. The freshman claimed victory with a time of 2:15.75 in the 200 fly, while finishing second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.31.

Alicja Sedlak earned the final victory of the meet by clocking in at 2:14.98 for the 200 IM.

Cumberlands is now focused on the MSC Championships, scheduled for February 6-8 in Danville, KY.
