MOSCOW, Idaho — The North Dakota men’s tennis squad finished off a 2-0 beginning to the regular season with a 4-3 victory over Idaho on Saturday evening in Moscow, Idaho.

UND (2-0) secured the crucial doubles point for the second consecutive day, earning three victories to take a 1-0 lead. The bottom pairing of Leo Galliano and Andrew Hayduke II initiated the success with a 6-2 victory, followed by the top tandem of Leandro Zgraggen and Ange-Kevin Koua solidifying the 1-0 lead with a 6-3 win. Ethan Terry and Jerall Yasin finished off the flawless beginning for the visiting Fighting Hawks on the middle court with a 6-4 victory.

Idaho (1-1) leveled the match at 1-1 with the initial singles victory of the evening on the No. 4 court, but Zgraggen responded at the top position with a 6-3, 7-5 win to regain the lead for the visitors.

Following a three-set triumph for the Vandals at the No. 3 position that equalized the score at 2-2, Koua regained the lead for the visitors with a 7-6, 7-5 win on the No. 2 court before the hosts answered once more at the No. 6 position to tie the match at 3-3.

With the contest tied at 3-3, Terry rallied from a 3-6, 2-5 deficit to claim 11 consecutive games, clinching the victory for the visitors with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 score on the No. 4 court, propelling the Fighting Hawks to a 2-0 start with the 4-3 win.

North Dakota will travel next weekend for another pair of matches against former Big Sky Conference rivals, commencing with Montana on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. in Missoula.
