A recent video by leaker Moore’s Law is Dead presents benchmarks for Navi 48 XTX (64 CUs) and Navi 48 XT (56 CUs) measured against the RTX 5080 in various tests including Watch Dogs Legion, Far Cry 6, Forza Horizon 6, Hitman, F1 23, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Borderlands 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Cyberpunk 2077.
Throughout these gaming benchmarks, AMD’s new Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card either outperforms the GeForce RTX 4080, matches it, or only falls short by a few FPS… impressive achievements from RDNA 4, contingent on AMD pricing the RX 9070 XT competitively against NVIDIA. Also note that AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 9070 XT draws just over 300W of power, whereas the RTX 4080 has a marginally higher TDP of 320W.
AMD’s anticipated Radeon RX 9070 non-XT also exhibits similar rasterization performance relative to the RTX 4070 Ti, which is quite impressive for a 220W card… and may retail at just $499.
There is also insight into the premier RDNA 4-based Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card being benchmarked against both the RX 9070 XT, and the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT graphics cards that are built on the RDNA 3 GPU architecture, alongside the RX 7900 XT.
The benchmarks assess performance in Black Myth: Wukong (RT on High, 1080p upscale to 4K), Hitman 3 (High settings), F1 23 (High settings), Shadow of the Tomb Raider (Ultra settings), and Cyberpunk 2077 (RT + Ultra settings). Observations reveal that the new RX 9070 XT nearly matches the RX 7900 XTX, equals it, or just surpasses it (we’re discussing a difference of 1FPS).
Not exceptional, not awful… but RDNA 4 centers on optimization and improvements under the hood, with MLID releasing ray tracing (RT) benchmarks showcasing the new RDNA 4 GPU, which is far more impressive. With RT activated, the new Radeon RX 9070 XT significantly outperforms the RDNA 3-based RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT, and the RX 7900 non-XT nearly doubles the output of the RX 7800 XT as well.
