VMI Swim & Dive Shines in Thrilling Home Finale!

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Women’s Swimming & Diving took part in its home finale against three competitors on Saturday afternoon at Goodall Pool within the VMI Aquatic Center.
 
The Keydets were unable to secure wins in any of the three direct confrontations against American, Howard, and Saint Francis.
 
Freshman Isabelle Haer brought home two victories in diving, achieving a season-high score of 244.20 in the three-meter dive followed by a first-place finish of 240.85 in the one-meter.
 
Starting the event was a record-setting performance by the 200 medley relay squad, which included Ava Phillips, Parker Belle Fogle, Emerson Cosner, and Mackenzie Byrne who broke an eight-year-old Rat record with a time of 1:54.87.
 
Cosner secured VMI’s first top-five position of the evening, placing fourth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:12.75. Byrne then achieved a fifth-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 25.06 and later garnered sixth place in the 100 butterfly at 1:00.33.

The Keydets will make a brief journey across the street to Washington & Lee for the final dual meet of 2025 on Saturday, January 25. Following the contest against the Generals, VMI will travel to Roanoke, Virginia for the Virginia Tech Invitational from February 7-9.
